Expect lawmakers to take another shot at raising the tax on alcohol in New Mexico during the 2025 legislative session.
Two proposals — one that would implement a single alcohol tax rate of 3% and another that would adjust the state’s alcohol excise tax for inflation and also add a temporary 20-cent “public health investment fee” on each standard drink — are poised to be introduced during the 60-day session that starts in January.
