GALLUP - In an information session held last Friday, New Mexico state leaders tackled a pressing public health crisis: the state's consistently high alcohol-related death rate.
The discussion centered around a potential bill that would increase liquor taxes to fund prevention and recovery initiatives.
The proposals set forward for the bill would introduce a 12% sales tax across all alcohol beverage types and adjust the states's alcohol excise tax for inflation.
